Whirlpool History
Whirlpool has a very rich history which can be traced back to 1911 when it was founded as Upton Machine Company. In 1924, Upton merged with Nineteen Hundred Washer Company and the merged entity was called as the Nineteen Hundred Corporation. In the year 1950, the Nineteen Hundred Corporation was renamed the Whirlpool Corporation. In the same year, the first Whirlpool-branded top loaded automatic washer hit the marketplace. In the year 1968, Whirlpool for the first time in its history surpassed the $1 billion sales mark. Within the next 10 years, it doubled its sales to $2 billion. In the year 1987, it began selling its washers in India. In 1988, it started a joint venture with Philips called Whirlpool International. It bought back the 47% share from Philips in the year 1991. In the year 2001, it surpassed the $10 billion mark and in 2006 with the acquisition of Maytag becomes the world’s largest home appliance company, with an annual revenue of $18 billion.
Range of Whirlpool Home Appliances
Under its Whirlpool brand name, it manufactures a wide range of home appliances including washers, dryers, kitchen appliances including refrigerators, cooking ovens and washing machines, water heaters and filters, room air conditioning systems, central heating and air conditioning systems and de-humidifiers.
Whirlpool Washers and Dryers
Whirlpool manufactures a wide variety of washers and dryers including high efficiency front load washers, high efficiency top load washers, traditional washers, traditional dryers and washer dryer combos. Traditional washers are available in capacities such as 3.4 cu.feet and 3.6 cu.feet. Traditional washers are available as top load washers. High efficiency top load washers come with Whirlpool sensing and adapting features including direct inject wash system, quiet spin technology and low wash system. Top load washers are available in capacities ranging from 3.6 cu.feet to 4.6 cu.feet.
Some of the other main features that are available include an eco-monitor, care control temperature management system and precision dispense system. High efficiency front load washing machines come with optional features such as deep clean wash system, direct inject wash system, quiet spin technology, clean care cycle and low wash system. Some of the main features that are available with the front loading high efficiency machines include different cycles and options in the form of separate allergen removal cycles, delicate cycles, eco cycles and steam sanitization cycles.
Front loading washing machines are available across different capacity categories including compact, medium, large and extra large. Washer dryer combos are available in two forms. One is in the form of combination washer and electric dryer and the other is in the form of combinational washer and gas dryer. Traditional dryers are available in three different types based on the type of fuel used to dry the clothes. The different types of fuel used include gas and natural gas. There is also a dryer that is driven by electric means.

Whirlpool Refrigerators
Whirlpool manufactures a wide range of refrigerators including French door, side-by-side, bottom freezer and top freezer.
